Women's Tennis Competes At ITA Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.- The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team competed this weekend at the United States Tennis Association/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regionals hosted by the University of North Carolina.

Rokia Sacko and Catherine White each competed in singles matches for the Runnin' Bulldogs, while the duo were also paired together in the doubles portion of the five-day event.

Sacko was seeded 61st in the singles main draw against Ava Todd (Davidson), and after dropping her first set 6-1, captured the second set 6-3, but ultimately fell in the third and deciding set 6-1.

White faced a familiar opponent in Tijana Uzelac of Withrop and unfournately for White, Uzelac won the match straight sets. Uzelac won the opening set 7-5 and ended the match capturing the second set in a tie break, 7-6.

In the opening round doubles match, White and Sack faced Casey Taylor and Suzanne Zenoni (Elon), and the Elon duo advanced with an 8-7 victory.

Gardner-Webb returns to action this weekend, when it competes in the three-day Wofford Fall Invitational.
