CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Junior Taylor Dodson was awarded for a third time this fall with Big South Co-Golfer of the Week honors, the announcement was made earlier this afternoon by the League Office.
Dodson was awarded the honor due to her co-medalist play at the 2015 Winthrop Intercollegiate this past weekend. Dodson came back from a tough first round of 77, +5, to shoot a tournament low round of 71, 1-under par, giving her a total of 148, +4, and tying her with two others for the top spot at the Intercollegiate with Savanna Wood of Appalachian State University and Chelsea Dantonio of Winthrop University, who Dodson will share Golfer of the week honors with.
Dodson's performance at Winthrop was the first time she has been a medalist in her collegiate career, and the performance aided Gardner-Webb to a second-place finish overall as a team. With the co-medalist finish Dodson topped off a fall slate of tournaments which saw her finish in the top-10 in all five tournaments that she participated in as well as stretching her personal streak of top-10 finishes to 10 tournaments in a row.
Dodson and the rest of the Gardner-Webb women's golf team will now take time off from tournament play as the winter months approach and begin to prepare for a strong showing in the 2016 spring season.
