BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb women's soccer forward Shelby Hooe has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III First Team following a vote by CoSIDA members.
This marks the first Academic All-District selection for Hooe, who will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third- team All-America honorees will be selected next month.
"Shelby had a wonderful career at Gardner-Webb University and is deserving of any accolades that come her way. She is the definition of student-athlete and has worked equally as hard on the field as she has in the classroom," remarked head coach Mike Varga. "It is quite an honor to be selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and I am sure she will have more honors coming her way after a remarkable career. "
The Academic All-Distrct selection is the second academic honor the senior forward has received this season, as she was also selected as the Big South Conference women's soccer Scholar-Athlete of the year for the second time in her career. A chemistry major sporting an impressive 3.92 GPA, Hooe is the first GWU women's soccer student-athlete to be named the Scholar-Athlete of the year.
Hooe cracked the starting lineup in 41 career games, including starting all 19 games during the 2015 season, finished her career seventh in Gardner-Webb history with 28 goals and 66 points.
The three-time All-Big South selection set single-season bests with nine goals and tied her career-high with 20 points in her senior season.
