Taylor Dodson Ties for 8th As Women's Golf Finishes 9th at the 2015 Fall Invitational

BRASELTON G.A. – Junior Taylor Dodson continued her strong showing of golf this fall finishing in eighth as the Gardner-Webb women's golf team finished in ninth-place overall at 2015 Fall Invitational co-hosted by Charleston Southern University and Kennesaw State University at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, G.A.

Due to the damage Hurricane Joaquin inflicted this past weekend the 2015 Fall Invitational was shifted from Mt. Pleasant S.C. to the 5,927 yard, par-72 Woodlands Course at Chateau Elan.

The Runnin' Bulldogs compiled rounds of 308, 287, and 296 at the Woodlands Course to have a combined total score of 891 placing in ninth out of 13 participating teams.

Dodoson over her 54-holes carded a 75 in her first round, followed by a masterful Invitational low personal best collegiate round of 65, seven 7-under par, with another 75 in her final round of play placing her in a tie for eighth with five others at 215, 1-under par. Dodson finished second in birdies made at the Invitational holing 13 over her three-rounds of play, eight of which came her second round alone. Dodson continued her consecutive top-10 streak finishing in the top-10 for her last eight tournaments showing her true consistency of play.

Senior Mary Katherine Donovan and Junior Sarah Bertram, playing in her first tournament of the fall, both finished in a tie for 46th-place overall at the Invitational. Donovan shot rounds of 78, 75, and 74, while Bertram had rounds of 81, 75, and 71 as both finished with total scores of 227, +11.

Finishing just one stroke behind Donovan and Bertram was freshman Morgan Laird who placed in a tie for 47th-place shooting rounds of 77, 75, and 76 for a score of 228, +12.  Julia Henderson finished up the GWU lineup playing at the Invitational placing in 57th overall with a combined score of 233, +17, from rounds of 78, 82, and 83.

Elizabeth McLennan of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga took home the medalist honors at the Invitational shooting 11-under par with impressive rounds of 68, 68, and 69. The Mocs also took home the top team honors this week shooting 12-under par as a team from rounds of 284, 280, and 288.

The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will tee it up next at the Wofford Invitational hosted by Wofford College at the Country Club of Spartanburg in Spartanburg S.C. October 19-20.
