
Women's Basketball Opens Season At #20 North Carolina Friday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Gardner-Webb women's basketball team kicks off the 2015-16 season Friday, Nov. 3 when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. to face no. 20 North Carolina in famed Carmichael Arena.
Last Time Out
This will be the season-opener for both teams. The Runnin' Bulldogs posted a 15-17 overall record and went 9-11 in the Big South Conference. GWU earned the no. 7 seed in the conference tournament, upset the no. 2 Radford in a quarterfinal matchup and dropped a 56-53 decision to the no. 2 seed High Point in the semifinals. UNC compiled a 26-9 overall record and went 10-6 in the ACC. The Tar Heels lost in the ACC quarterfinals to Lousiville, but earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they advanced to the Sweet 16.
Series Notes
This is the fourth meeting all-time between the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Tar Heels and the first matchup since Dec. 31, 2011, where UNC defeated GWU 83-62 in Paul Porter Arena. North Carolina leads the series with a 3-0 record.

The Runnin' Bulldogs posted an 8-6 record inside of Paul Porter Arena last season, compared to a 5-10 mark away from Boiling Springs. In his 11 seasons at GWU, Reeves' teams have posted a .500 mark or better inside of Paul Porter Arena in 10 of the 11 seasons, compared to just two above .500 seasons outside of Boing Springs. Reeves has posted a 101-53 mark in PPA as head coach of Gardner-Webb.

2 This will be the 10th matchup for Gardner-Webb against a current member school of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Runnin' Bulldogs have faced UNC, Duke, Lousiville, Maryland, Miami, and Virginia Tech.
2 The 2015-16 GWU women's basketball team features six freshman, which is the msot for the Runnin' Bulldogs since they had 7 entering the 2011-12 season.
2 A native of London, England, Evelyn Adebayo is the second player from England to play for Coach Reeves during his tenure as head coach of Gardner-Webb.
