Kid's Day Takeover Planned For Saturday Gridiron Tilt vs. ETSU
November 12, 2015 | Football
BOILING SPRINGS – All children ages 12 and under will be admitted free Saturday afternoon when Gardner-Webb hosts ETSU as part of a special Kid's Day Takeover promotion.
The Runnin' Bulldogs play the Buccaneers at 1:30 pm Saturday (11/14) in Ernest W. Spangler Stadium – the first of two consecutive home games on tap to close out the 2015 season.
The game marks the first meeting of the two schools on the football field since September 14, 2002, a game GWU held off the Bucs 13-10 despite a lengthy delay caused by Tropical Storm Hanna.
The victory was the second of the season for Gardner-Webb and started an eight-game win streak to close out the season. The Runnin' Bulldogs finished the 2002 campaign with a 9-1 overall record and won the inaugural Big South Conference title – finishing with a top-25 ranking in both major FCS (then I-AA) polls.
The two teams split the first two games of the brief series, with ETSU extending a 21-17 halftime lead into a 30-17 win on September 8, 2001 in Johnson City, Tenn.
Call the Gardner-Webb athletics department at (704) 406-4340 for more information on tickets for Saturday's game.
