Oglesby sets Pool Record, Toth and Schumacher Collect Wins Against Wingate University

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb sophomore Lauren Oglesby set a Pool Record this evening winning the 1650 free, while fellow sophomores Lili Tóth  and London Schumacher each collected individual wins on Day One of dual meet action between Gardner-Webb and Wingate University.

Swimming at home for the first time this season Oglesby swam a time of 17.27.17 in the 1650 free breaking the previous Pool Record of 17.33.42 by over six seconds. She combined her first place finish this evening with ninth place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.17.

Toth, of Erd, Hungary, finished atop the 100 breast leaderboard via a time of 1:05.60, while also collecting a second-place finish in the 200 IM, and aiding the Runnin' Bulldogs to a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay.

Schumacher just beat out Toth to take home the top finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.00 flat. Schumacher swam a time of 1:57.66 in the 200 free to finish in fourth-place just a tenth of a second off of the third-place.

Senior Giorgie Graves finished strong in the 200 fly placing second with a time of 2.11.27, while sophomore Kelsey Williams also earned a second-place spot for Gardner-Webb this finish coming in the 50 free from a time of 24.94, being just beaten by Ana Fish of Wingate who swam a time of 24.43.

Graves and Williams were joined by Mackenzie Ropka, and Carol Zangla helped the Runnin' Bulldogs to a strong finish in the last event of the evening the 400 free relay, where the grouping finished second swimming a time of 3:40.01.

The GWU women's swim team will return to action tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.  traveling to Wingate, N.C. to finish off the rest of the dual meet action against the Bulldogs of Wingate University.
