WINGATE, N.C. – London Schumacher set a Pool Record for Gardner-Webb as she captured the 400 IM top spot, with fellow teammate Giorgie Graves adding a win as the dual meet action was capped off with a 200 Free Relay win for GWU, yet Wingate pulled away with the 174-133 win this afternoon.
The sophomore Schumacher's time of 4:26.92 was enough to take over the Pool Record from former Gardner-Webb standout Taylor Simpson's hold in the 400 IM event. The Runinn' Bulldogs claimed the top three spots in the 400 IM as Adel Kiss (4:45.73) and Miranda Johns (4:46.01) finished in second and third respectively.
Graves the senior originally from Riverview, Florida followed up a strong day one performance with a big win in one of her main events the 100 fly coming from an impressive time of 58.19. Freshman Carol Zangla earned a second-place finish in the event swimming a time of 1:00.83.
Gardner-Webb absolutely dominated this afternoon in the 200 free relay taking home first, second, and third-place finishes as Kelsey Williams, Lili Tóth, Mackenzie Ropka, and Caroline Andrews were the quartet to take the top spot with at time of 1:38.92
Toth continued to impress this afternoon as she finished in second in the 100 free swimming to a time of 53.55 just behind the winning time of 53.16.
Lauren Oglesby followed up her Pool Record performance from last night with another strong finish today in the 500 free as she swam to a time of 5:12.29.
The Gardner-Webb women's swim team will be back in action December 4-6 as they will participate in the 2015 Fall Frenzy Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
