Three Men's Soccer Players Earn Postseason Big South Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Three members of the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team have been recognized with postseason honors, announced the Big South Conference Monday.
Al-Gashamy totaled three goals, added two assists, for eight points in 13 games for the Runnin' Bulldogs. The junior midfielder paced the GWU attack with a team-high 30 shots and 10 shots on goal and led the Dogs to a key 3-1 victory over UNC Asheville, netting two goals including the game-winner. In his three years in Boiling Springs, Al-Gasamy has 14 goals and 15 assists for 43 career points.
A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Mendy burst on to the scene leading GWU with four goals and 10 points, while also ranking tied four second with two assists. Missing all of last year due to injury, including the first five games this season, Mendy notched two goals and an assist in his first career road game at N.C. State.
The freshman forward played a pivotal role in the victory at Liberty, scoring the lone goal of the match in the 13th minute to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs to the 1-0 victory, its first win in Lynchburg, Va, since the 2010 season.
A sophomore goalkeeper, Liles was selected to the All-Academic Team sporting an impressive 3.54 GPA. Liles proved to be a bright spot for the Dogs this season, starting 11 games in net, replacing an injured Matthew Swan. The native of Bailey, N.C., posted two shutouts in his sophomore season, including making a season-high 11 stops against the no. 4 ranked Clemson Tigers in front of a record setting crowd at Greene-Harbison Stadium.
The Runnin' Bulldogs secured the no. 7 seed in the Big South Tournament and open up play Tuesday evening, when they take on the no. 2 seed Radford at 7:00 p.m.
