
Women's Basketball Has Matchup With Kennesaw State Tuesday Night

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb welcome Kennesaw State to Paul Porter Arena, for its final home game before Christmas, Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday's matchup can be seen live on the Big South Network, and you can listen to all of the action on wgwg.org.
Last Time Out
The Runnin' Bulldogs dropped an 81-62 decision at Winthrop in their Big South Conference road opener Dec. 5. Winthrop had a terrific day shooting the ball hitting 32-76 (42.1%), and forced 16 turnovers by the Runnin' Bulldogs compared to just four by the home team. The Eagles converted the TO's by GWU into 19 points compared to just two for Gardner-Webb. Gardner-Webb had another tough day shooting the ball from behind the arc as it was just 2-18 from distance. Candace Brown led the way for the Dogs with 24 points on 8-15 from the floor, while Olivia Parker recorded her fifth double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Alexus Hill chipped in with 16 points and tied her career-high with six assists.
Series Notes
This is the 12th meeting between Gardner-Webb and Kennesaw State, since GWU joined the Division I ranks in the 2000-01 season. This will be the fifth consecutive season the two teams face each other. The Owls won the most recent matchup, a 50-47 victory. Gardner-Webb leads the series with a 6-5 record and have two out of the last three matchups.
Early Season Madness
To open the 2015-16 season, Gardner-Webb upset the No. 20 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels for the program's first victory over a ranked team as well as the first win over an ACC school. Trailing by two with 7.2 seconds left, Candace Brown scored a layup with just over a second left to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs to a 66-65 victory in famed Carmichael Arena.

2 Gardner-Webb's victory over Liberty was the first regular-season victory over the Flames, since GWU recorded a 70-65 on Jan 2, 2010.
2 The Runnin' Bulldogs own a 3-1 record against the Owls inside of Paul Porter Arena, with the lone loss, a 68-48 decision coming on Dec. 15, 2011.
2 A victory over Winthrop Saturday will mark the best start to the conference for Gardner-Webb since it joined the Big South in 2008-09, and the best start through
two conference games since the 2007-08 season when it won its first four conference matchups.
2 Gardner-Webb's 5-2 record though its first seven games to open the 2015-16, is its best record in that stretch since 2009-10, when it went 9-1 to open the season, including reeling off eight-straight victories, after losing its season-opener against Houston.
2 The Runnin' Bulldogs rank first in the Big South hauling down 45.6 rebounds per game which also ranks 19th in the country for rebounds per game.
