
Prostakov Named Big South Conference Men's Tennis Freshman of The Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman Yaroslav Prostakov was named Big South Conference Crons Brand Freshman of the Week Thursday, as selected by the league office.
Prostakov garnered the weekly conference honors for the role he played in clinching the come from behind victory for Gardner-Webb in last weeks match versus the Wofford Terriers. Prostakov lost the first set in his No. 3 singles match to Wofford's Walker Heffron 4-6 but fought back hard playing one of his best matches so far this season taking the next two sets 6-2, 6-2 to win the match and ensure the team win for Gardner-Webb.
With the match clinching win Prostakov moved to 3-4 overall this season in singles play at the No. 3 singles position against very stiff competition for only a freshman, while the team win advanced Gardner-Webb to the record of 4-4 on the season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will return to action this coming Wednesday, February 25th when they will play host to Limestone College and South Carolina State in Gardner-Webb's first home matches of the year.
