BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Stacia Robertson scored a game-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the High Point Panthers to a 74-58 victory over the Gardner-Webb women's basketball team on Tuesday evening in Paul Porter Arena.
Gardner-Webb ends the regular-season with an overall record of 13-16, and 9-11 in Conference, and will head to next week's Big South Conference tournament in Myrtle Beach, as he no. 6 or 7 seed.
With the victory, High Point improves its record to 17-11, and 13-6 in the conference.
Jessica Heilig and Alexus Hill each scored 16 points to pace the offense for the Runnin' Bulldogs, and Candace Brown recorded her second straight double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
DeAnneisha Jackson had a great game off the bench for High Point, scoring 14 points and grabbing nine boards, but Alexus Hill led the charge off the bench for the Runnin' Bulldogs, scoring 14 of the team's 23 bench points.
The Runnin' Bulldogs drove the ball into the paint, resulting in 39 free-throw attempts, but Gardner-Webb struggled to convert from the line, connecting on just 24 attempts.
Candace Brown Brown and Olivia Parker led an attack on the offensive boards, each grabbing four rebounds, and as a team, the Runnin' Bulldogs attacked the offensive glass, hauling down 24 boards, but managed just 12 second chance points compared to 24 for High Point.
High Point jumped out to an early 10-2 lead over the game's first four minutes, but the Runnin' Bulldogs would respond with an 8-2 run to cut the lead to two (12-10), which was capped by a Hill jumped with 12:56 left in the first half.
With 10:41 remaining in the half, High Point held a slim 16-13 advantage, but would extend their lead to double-digits with just under six minutes left.
Two free-throws by Quinn with just one second remaining in the half cut the Panther lead to 29-23, as the Runnin' Bulldogs would head into the locker room trailing by six.
High Point outscored GWU 16-2 in second chance points, and 13-5 in turnovers in the second half. The Panthers led for the entire second half, extending their advantage to as much as 20 points, and would defeat Gardner-Webb with a 74-58 victory.
