Gardner-Webb Men's Golf Kicks-Off 2015 Season at Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's golf team is currently in fourth place after the first round of tournament play in the 2015 Davidson College Invitational being held at the 7, 208 yard par 72 River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.
Gardner-Webb finished the day with a total combined team score of 297, +9, nine strokes off the pace of leaders Chattanooga and just three strokes behind third-place Wofford College.
Junior Clement Kurniawan and sophomore Vincent Blanchette led the way for the Runnin' Bulldogs in this first round of play with both players firing rounds of 73, +1 golf to place them in a tie with a handful of other players in 13th-place.
Close behind Kurniawan and Blanchette was red-shirt freshman Chris Jones who garnered himself a round of 75, +3, currently having him tied for 32nd-place, while freshman Jake Kennedy and senior Matt Yelverton rounded out the line-up for Gardner-Webb shooting rounds of 76, +4 over their first 18-holes of golf sitting tied for 40th-place overall.
Gardner-Webb will look to build off of the strong showings today for tomorrow's final rounds of this 36-hole season-opening event. The rounds tomorrow are set to commence with early tee-times starting at 8:30 a.m.
