GEORGETOWN, S.C.- Sophomore Sarah Bertram shot a 75 to pace Gardner-Webb as the Runnin' Bulldogs sit tied for second-place with Campbell University at the 2015 Big South Women's Golf Championship at the DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, S.C.
Bertram's 75, +3 currently has her in a fifth-place three stroked behind first-place Malene Hansen of Coastal Carolina heading into the last 18 holes of the Championship Wednesday morning.
Fellow sophomore Taylor Dodson finished just two strokes behind Bertram carding a 77, +5 on the round placing her in eighth overall on the individual leader board. Two strokes behind Dodson is the third sophomore in the GWU lineup Courtney Yanch who over her 18-holes of play shot at 79, +7, tying her for ninth-place with several others.
Juniors Mary Katherine Donovan and Tessy Tuschen rounded out the scoring for Gardner-Webb today. Donovan finished in a tie for 30th with a round of 83, +11, while Tuschen shot an 87, +15 leaving her in a tie for 37th-place overall.
After the first round of play both Gardner-Webb and Campbell fired a team round of 314, +26 to be tied for second-place one shot ahead of fourth-place Radford and 13 stokes behind round one leaders Coastal Carolina who for the day shot 301, +13.
The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will look to finish the 2015 Big South Women's Golf Championships strong as they tee-off for the last 18 holes tomorrow morning at 8:50 a.m.
