Women's Soccer Adds Patricia Yordan And Samantha Firby

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb head women's soccer coach Mike Varga announced Friday that Samantha Firby and Patricia Yordan have committed to play for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Firby and Yordan join Bailey Hierholzer (Heath, Tx), Hannah Watkins (Conyers, Ga.), Brittany DeLoach (Newnan, Ga.), Kaitlyn Bailey (Fredericksburg, Va.), Maggie Everett (Medina, Ohio), Samuelle Grove (Ottawa, Canada), Erin Shamleffer (Huntingtown, Md.), Sam Stoney (Mooresville, N.C.), Abbey Smith (Oxford, N.C.), and Keely Brown (Finneytown, Ohio) that have all committed to play soccer at Gardner-Webb.
Firby comes to Gardner-Webb after an outstanding career at Polk County High School, where she was named the Offensive Player of the Year during her freshman and junior years.The incoming freshman was a two-time all-conference nominee, while playing for the Wolverines under the direction of Gardner-Webb alum Lennox Charles.
"Samantha has been a varsity player since her freshman year, and led the team in scoring her freshman and junior years" remarked Lennox Charles. "She is an extremely hard worker and has improved her game every year. She is strong and quick, and is not fun for defenders to play against. She has helped us reach the third round of the 2A playoffs each of her first three seasons."
Alongside of her high school team, Firby plays her club soccer for both the Rutherfordton Rumble and Carolina FC for head coaches Brian Espinoza and Rob Depaul.
A native of nearby Spartanburg, S.C., Firby has an older brother Benjamin and plans to major in Exercise Science at Gardner-Webb.
Patricia Yordan (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) is the 12th member of the class of 2015, and comes to Boiling Springs after an impressive high school career at Pembroke Pines Charter High School.Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Yordan was a goalkeeper on the varsity squad and guided the Jaguars to two district championships, as well as the state semi-finals during her junior season and the state finals, her senior season.
Yordan represented her native country as a member of the U17 Puerto Rico National Team and chose to play for Gardner-Webb over the University of Florida, Howard University, the University of Miami, and Florida International.
The daughter of Jorge Yordan and Margarita Santiago, Patricia has one younger sibling and intends to major in Biology at Gardner-Webb.
