ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Amanda Steinmuller (Ellicott, Md.) scored her team-leading 13th and 14th goals of the season, and Bryn Hubbard (Annapolis, Md.) added her first collegiate strike to pace Gardner-Webb on Monday evening, as Winthrop tallied 10 goals in the opening 14 minutes en route to a 21-4 Big South Conference win over the Runnin' Bulldogs.
Winthrop (10-2, 2-0 Big South) controlled 16-of-27 draws on the night, including a 10-6 advantage in the first half, while converting all of its 11 clearing attempts and limiting Gardner-Webb (0-11, 0-2 Big South) to nine shots.
Steinmuller scored two goals on three attempts in the contest, while Monique Martin (Tyngsborough, Mass.) added a strike and Hubbard tallied her first collegiate goal. Martin posted team-highs of four draw controls and four ground balls, while Raygan Hall (Cleveland, Tenn.) made five saves.
Shannon Gallagher led the way for Winthrop with five goals and three assists, while Abigail Blevins and Jenna Kasmarik both added a hat trick. Katie Clark, Katherine Judge, Allie Yeager, Kristen Shriver and Sydney Cope each tallied two goals, as Shriver dished out two assists. Alaina Girani and Jesse Filyaw-Hiu combined for four saves between the pipes.
Winthrop got off to a strong start in the first half, scoring 10 goals in the opening 14 minutes and carrying a 15-0 lead into halftime. Steinmuller got the Runnin' Bulldogs on the board 2:25 into the second half with her first of the day, before Winthrop answered with six straight strikes over the next 20 minutes to push the margin to 21-1.
The Runnin' Bulldogs capped the day's scoring with three goals in the final five minutes, as Hubbard netted her first collegiate goal at the 5:02 mark before Martin and Steinmuller each added a late strike.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Friday when the Runnin' Bulldogs host Liberty in Big South play at 6:00 pm at Spangler Stadium.
