BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Gardner-Webb and head men's tennis coach Mike Griffith announced that two men's tennis student-athletes have committed to play for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
The two-man 2015 recruiting class is comprised of Maximilian Scholl from Korntal-Münchingen, Germany and Ryan Wilson from Simpsonville, S.C.
Scholl ranks among the top young players in Germany currently holding the No. 16 rank in the U18 category and previously being ranked as high as third in the German junior rankings. Scholl's best results were a German Nationals doubles U16 championship and a runner up in U16 singles at Nationals.
Wilson currently attends Mauldin High School in Simpsonville, S.C., where his team made the Upper State finals last year finishing as a quarterfinalist. Wilson is listed as a two-star recruit with a big serve on tennisrecruiting.net. He currently is the sixth ranked player in the state of South Carolina.
Coach Griffith had this to say about his 2015 recruiting class, "Both Ryan and Maximilian are players I have seen play in person and are athletes of very high character. I look forward to seeing them in action this coming fall, especially at our first event down at the beach against conference rival Coastal Carolina in the Big South Fall tournament September 9-11."
