Men's Soccer Unveils 2015 Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Four teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season highlight the 2015 Gardner-Webb men's soccer schedule announced head coach Tony Setzer.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will play a demanding 17-match schedule that features games against Charlotte, UAB, Clemson, and Big South Champion Coastal Carolina, all of which advanced to the NCAA Tournament during the 2014 campaign.
Head Coach Tony Setzer, who enters his 28th season at the helm, will kick off the season Aug. 28, when GWU takes the short trek to Spartanburg, S.C. to face Wofford in the Big South-Southern Conference Challenge.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return home for their home-opener on Sept. 5, when they take on NCCAA opponent Laurel University, before they hit the road for three straight matches against Charlotte (Sept. 7), UAB (Sept. 11) and Memphis (Sept. 13)
The matches against UAB and Memphis will both be played in Birmingham Ala. as part of the UAB Invitational.
GWU will take on USC-Upstate under the lights Sept. 19 at 6:00 p.m., before heading to Raleigh to face N.C. State (Sept. 22) in the final road non-conference match.
Gardner-Webb opens conference play against defending Big South tournament champion Coastal Carolina on Sept. 25.
The Dogs will play their next three matches at Greene-Harbison Stadium, which begins on Sept. 29, when GWU faces ACC foe Clemson at 7:00 p.m.
UNC-Asheville and Winthrop pay a visit to Boiling Springs for the next two games Oct. 3 and 7 respectively, and three days later GWU plays the first of four consecutive road matches, when it travels to Lynchburg, Va. to face Liberty (Oct. 10).
Gardner-Webb will be off from competition for seven days before it competes Campbell (Oct 17) and will face Radford (Oct. 24), and Presbyterian (Oct. 28) to complete the road swing.
The Runnin' Bulldogs welcome High Point to Boiling Springs for a showdown on Halloween (Oct. 31), and will conclude the regular-season on Nov. 5 against Longwood.
At the end of the regular-season, the top eight seeds qualify for the Big South Tournament, with the winner earning the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament. The first round of the Big South tournament will be hosted at the higher seeded institution, and the semi-finals and championship will be played at Bryant Park in Greensboro, Nov. 14 and 16 respectively.
