
Women's Tennis Garners Academic Honors

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team has been named to the 2015 All-Academic team announced the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Gardner-Webb was one of 177 Division I women's tennis programs that posted a 3.20 GPA or higher. As a team, the women's tennis program compiled a 3.53 cumulative GPA .This is the third consecutive year the GWU women's tennis team has been honored by the ITA for its academic accomplishments.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2013 and spring 2014).
Individually women's tennis student-athletes, Yasmin Doost, Stina Magnusson, Mary Walker Mixon, and Sarah Rieckmann each were named to the 2015 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team.
This is the the third consecutive year and the 12th time in the last 14 years that a women's tennis student-athlete has been honored by the ITA for their academic achievements.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
