Men's Soccer Tabbed Eighth In 2015 Big South Conference Preseason Poll

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Gardner-Webb has been selected eighth in the 2015 Big South Conference men's soccer preseason poll by the league's head coaches, announced the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
The Runnin' Bulldogs totaled 33 points in the preseason poll, receiving two sixth-place votes, three seventh-place votes, two eighth-place votes, two ninth-place votes, and one tenth-place vote. Gardner-Webb was selected ahead of UNC-Asheville and Presbyterian, who totaled 28 and 16 points respectively.
Defending tournament champion Coastal Carolina was chosen first in the preseason poll, while Max Hasenstab (Winthrop) was tabbed the Preseason Attacking Player of the Year and Tommy Gudmundsson (Coastal Carolina) and Austin Yearwood (High Point) were chosen as the Preeseason Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
The Chanticleers received eight of the 10 first place votes, totaling 97 points and were followed by Winthrop (81), High Point (77), Radford (75), and Liberty (56) to round out the top five schools in the preseason poll.
Gardner-Webb will play two exhibition games at South Carolina (Aug. 16) and against Brevard (Aug. 25), before opening the season Aug. 28 at Wofford.
