Jorge Mackenna Joins Men's Soccer Staff

Jorge Mackenna enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team.
Mackenna comes to Boiling Springs from nearby Limestone College, where he had a distinguished playing career for the Saints.
"I am very pleased to add Jorge to the staff. He was an excellent player at Limestone, and I believe he has the potential to be an even better coach," remarked Gardner-Webb head coach Tony Setzer. He has a lot to offer and the team can learn a lot from his teaching."
During his four years at Limestone, Mackenna was a four-time All-Conference Carolinas selection, earning First-Team honors as a sophomore, junior, and senior. The attacking forward was named the Conference Carolinas' Freshman of the Year after an impressive first season in which he ranked second on the team with 10 goals and 4 assists for a total of 24 points.
A four-time NSCAA All-Southeast region selection, Mackenna started 73 career games guiding the Saints to four NCAA tournament appearances. During his collegiate career, the Saints compiled a 56-19-2 record, including capturing the 2013 NCAA men's soccer championship. Saving his best for last, Mackenna was named an 2015 NSCAA All-American in his final collegiate season.
Mackenna etched his name into the Limestone record books compiling 35 goals, 15 assists, for a total of 85 points. Currently, he ranks second all-time in game-winning goals (10), third in shots on goal (90), and is fifth in Saints history for career points and goals.
A native of Santiago, Chile, Mackenna graduated from Limestone in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration.
