Women's Soccer Earns 2014-15 NSCAA All-Academic Team Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo.- The Gardner-Webb women's soccer team has been honored with the National Soccer Coaches Association of American Team Academic Award for the 2014-15 school year.
The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field.
"The NSCAA Team Academic Award is something we take a great deal of pride in. The women's soccer program sets high team academic goals just as we set goals for athletic performance and achievements," remarked Gardner-Webb head women's soccer coach Mike Varga.
A total of 562 women's soccer programs were honored by the NSCAA for their dedication on and off the field. This is the seventh consecutive year and the 11th time in the last 12 years Gardner-Webb has posted a 3.0 cumulative team GPA.
The 2014-15 season was a memorable one for the Runnin' Bulldogs that saw them post an 8-10-2 record and earn a berth in the Big South tournament for the first time since 2011. For her efforts, Shelby Hooe earned First Team All Big South honors and became the first female to be named the Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
