Kow Earns Top-25 Finish As Men's Golf Ties for 12th at The 2015 Golfweek Program Challenge

PAWLEY'S ISLAND, S.C.- Redshirt junior Elki Kow finished in a tie for 19th-place overall as the Gardner-Webb men's golf tied for 12th-place at The 2015 Golfweek Program Challenge hosted at the 6,920 yard, par 72 True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, S.C.
Gardner-Webb as a team combined rounds of 290, 294, and 283 to shoot 867, +3 at the event placing them in a tie with Jacksonville State for the 12th position on the leaderboard.
After redshirting this past year Kow played very well in his first event back for the Runnin' Bulldogs carding a very good first round of 69, 3-under par, he then stumbled shooting a second round 76, +4, but regained his good form to shoot a very solid final round 68, 4-under par. He would finish with the combined score of 213, 3-under par earning the tie for 19th and the top-25 finish. Kow tied for second at the event in birdies holing 14 over his 54-holes of play.
Next to place for Gardner-Webb was junior Vincent Blanchette who finished in a tie for 42nd-place overall. Blanchette shot rounds of 75, 73, and 70 to finish with a total of 218, +2, holing 11 birdies during play.
A duo of sophomores Jake Kennedy (74, 73, & 73) and Aaron Thomas (73, 75, & 72) both finished in a tie for 48th-place shooting the total score of 220, +4, at the Program Challenge, while freshman Charlie Dallery (74, 73, & 76) rounded out the line-up playing in his first collegiate tournament shooting 223, +7, to finish in a tie for the 63rd position. Thomas and Dallery tied with teammate Blanchette firing in 11 birdies over the three-day event.
Jacksonville University took home the top team honors at The 2015 Golfweek Program Challenge by shooting a spectacular team score of 834, 30-under par, while David Wicks also from Jacksonville took home the medalist honors shooting a scintillating 13-under par for the event.
The men's golf team will tee it up next at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate hosted by the University of North Carolina at the UNC Finley Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. October 3-4.
