Conceicao Nets Big South Attacking Player of the Week Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Filipe Conceicao has been named the Big South men's soccer attacking player of the week, announced the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
Conceicao scored two goals and addded an assists, as well as had a game-high six shots in the 7-2 victory over Laurel University on Saturday evening.
Trailing 1-0 after six minutes of play, Conceicao netted his first goal of the season to tie the game at one, and later added his second of the match just after halftime, to extend the Runnin' Bulldog lead to 5-2.
Overall, the Runnin' Bulldogs dominated Laurel for their first victory of the season, outshooting the Lions 35-7 as well as 8-5 on corner kick opportunities.
Just a sophomore, Conceicao has asserted himself as one of the team's best players, having started every match this season and currently leads the team in shots as well as shots on goal, and is tied with the lead in goals, assists, and points.
As a freshman, Conceicao was tied for third on the team in goals and scored the game-winning strike at USC Upstate.
Conceicao and the Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Friday evening, when they travel to Birmingham, Ala to face UAB Friday at 7:30 p.m.
