Lile and Denman Set Pool Records as Men's Swimming Collects Victory Over Limestone College On Senior Day

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Men's Seniors Nathan Lile, Luke Denman and Tate Warden were honored this afternoon as the Gardner-Webb men's swimming team faced off against Limestone College this afternoon at the Bost Natatorium in Boiling Springs, N.C.

The Runnin' Bulldogs handily defeated the Saints of Limestone on Senior Day by a final score of 125-81.

Lile set four Pool Records this afternoon as he took home first in the 50 Free with a new record time of 20.54, before setting the new record in the 100 Free swimming that event with a 46.08 pace. Lile also combined efforts by anchoring the 400 Medley Relay team to victory and a new Pool Record, a team that was made up of Connor Bos, Austin Toney, and Tyler Gomez who with Lile swam a time of 3:24.79. Lile also was determined this afternoon swimming the 100 Back by himself to cap off his Senior Day meet collecting his final Pool Record of the day with a time of 49.20 in the event.

Fellow Senior Denman was not to be outdone as he swam the 1,650 Free by himself this afternoon in attempt to break the Pool Record which he successfully completed by swimming a mile in the fast time of 16:20.95 making him the new record holder for the event.

The men's squad would continue to win event after event this afternoon. The sophomore class for Gardner-Webb had a very strong showing as Gomez, Cameron Pou, Mason Hutchinson, and Fred Simons IV all claimed victories this afternoon.

Gomez earned a top finish in the 50 Fly swimming 23.34, while also swimming well in the 50 Free finishing just a second behind Lile with a time 21.56 placing third for that event.

Pou and Hutchinson both collected victories in events, which saw the other place in second. Pou won the 200 Free (1:45.36) as Hutchinson took second (1:46.70), and Hutchinson claimed first in the 200 IM (1:57.93) with Pou finishing runner-up (2:00.06).

Simons collected his win in just the fourth event of the day winning the 100 IM with a time of 54.27 and he also swam very well in the 50 Fly finishing second to Gomez at the pace of 23.90.

The Runnin' Bulldogs place first through third in the 50 Back this afternoon as Bos (23.34), John Baker (25.12) and Andrew Linzie (25.25) swam well in the event for GWU.

Today's Senior Day festivities marks the beginning of Gardner-Webb's rest and training period before the Runnin' Bulldogs will return to competition at the 2016 CCSA Conference Championships taking place February 17-20 in Athens, Ga.
