Moffatt Paces Impressive Weekend For Gardner-Webb At Bob Pollock Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. --- Elise Moffatt (Kennesaw, Ga.) won the women's pole vault to pace three Runnin' Bulldogs in the top four, and Darien Evans-Hensley (Lexington, N.C.) finished second in the men's 600-meter dash to highlight a strong weekend for Gardner-Webb at the Bob Pollock Invitational.
Moffatt took home the top spot in the pole vault with a mark of 3.55 meters, beating out teammates Megan Melton (Riverside, Calif.) and Kailey Robinson (Connelly Springs, N.C.) - who finished second and fourth with marks of 3.45 and 3.00 meters, respectively.
Sarah Mitchell (Roswell, Ga.) set a new PR and school record with a mark of 17.29 meters in the weight throw en route to a third-place finish, while also placing fourth in the shot put with a toss of 13.05 meters. Diamond Reese (Atlanta, Ga.) and Natasha Akbarizadeh (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the weight throw with marks of 15.24 and 14.97 meters.
Jordan Davis (Atlanta, Ga.) broke the one-minute mark for the first time in the 400-meter dash, crossing the line with a new PR of 58.83 seconds en route to a sixth-place showing.
Gabby Cortese (Royston, Ga.) placed 10th in the one-mile run with a time of 5:28.13, while Kayin Mujahid (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.70 meters. Ashleigh Cleveland (Raleigh, N.C.) placed eighth with a height of 1.55 meters. A mark of 12.04 meters placed Moriah Mason (Decatur, Ga.) seventh in the shot put.
Keaton Poole (Spindale, N.C.) bested his mile time by more than 10 seconds en route to a 12th-place finish, crossing the line in 4:34.31, as Jalin Lawson (Fort Gaines, Ga.) placed sixth in the long jump with a mark of 6.66 meters. A mark of 6.61 meters put Quenton Jones in eighth in the long jump.
Jordan Smith (Chesterfield, Va.) and Marcus Abraham (Charlotte, N.C.) finished second and third, respectively, in the weight throw with marks of 15.47 and 13.60 meters, as Clay Hamilton (Blair, Neb.) claimed sixth with a toss of 13.11 meters. Seaver Wait (Candler, N.C.) placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.95 meters, while Abraham took fourth in the shot put with a toss of 16.11 meters.
Evans-Hensley turned in a superb time of 1:26.39 in the 600-meter run en route to a second-place finish, as Christopher Lile (Waynesboro, N.C.) beat his 3,000-meter time by nearly 12 seconds with a mark of 9:12.54.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on February 6 and 7 at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn.
