CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb Women's tennis team fell to Charlotte 6-1 in their first spring action on Saturday at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex in Charlotte.
Sandra Bolstad was the lone winner for the Runnin' Bulldogs at No. 3 single's as she defeated Macy Vonderschmidt in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 6-2). Catherine White won her first set at No. 4 singles before eventually falling in a long and decisive third set. She fell to the 49er's Tyler Baker by a match score of (6-2, 2-6, 10-12).
In the double's matches Bolstad and Laura Fermosel fell quickly to Tal Martin and Victoria Pahlett 6-1 in the No. 1 slot while Mary Walker Mixon and Rokia Sacko fell 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. White and Sarah Rieckmann's match went unfinished at No. 3 doubles after the first two matches went final.
Sacko lost to Martin at No. 1 singles for Gardner-Webb (4-6, 2-6).
The Runnin' Bulldogs will hit the courts again tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Davidson.
