DAVIDSON, N.C. – Playing for the second straight day the Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis team fell on the road to Davidson 4-3.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (0-2) won two of the three double's matches to take the double's point of the match. Sandra Bolstad and Laura Fermosel defeated Elaina Cummer and Sarah Stein 6-4 at No. 1 while Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann triumphed over Megan Scholvinck and Ava Todd 6-4 in the No. 3 slot.
Bolstad battled Scholvinck at No. 3 singles and took the victory (6-3, 6-3). Fermosel was the other singles winner for the Runnin' Bulldogs as she made quick work of Stein (6-2, 6-1) at No. 6 spot.
All matches were decided in two sets, however Mary Walker Mixon battled with her Wildcat opponent throughout the first set losing 7-5. She eventually succumbed to Cummer 6-1 in the second set.
Gardner-Webb will open their home spring slate on Tuesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Courts against Limestone at 2:00 p.m.
