ATHENS, GA. – The Runnin' Bulldogs men's swim team earned the first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay setting four School Records in the process to cap off day one of the CCSA Championships hosted at the Gabrielsen Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga.
The first place result came from the quartet of Connor Bos, Jake Ennis, Tyler Gomez, and Nathan Lile as they claimed victory in the 200 Medley Relay for the second year in a row setting a new School Record in the event with an overall time of 1:27.72.
Bos, Gomez, and Lile all set new School Record splits in the process of wining the event. Bos swam to the split of 21.98 in the 50 Back, as Gomez finished his 50 Fly split with a time of 21.55, and Lile broke his 50 Free split anchoring the team swimming 19.02.
Coach Mike Simpson had this to say about tonight's performance, "The men did really, really well tonight. We are very happy with the way they swam. I think the guys on the (200 Medley Relay) team were expecting a better result, but we had to remind them of how well they did. A lot of the men swam phenomenally tonight and it should propel them into the rest of the week."
In the last event of the evening the 800 Free Relay team of Cameron Pou, Joshua Clarke, Hal McKay, and Tate Warden took home fifth-place as the four combined efforts to swim the event in a time of 6:48.97.
The team will be back in the pool tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. with morning preliminaries before finals begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
