BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team (3-4) lost a close match 4-3 to UNC Greensboro Sunday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Courts.
Mary Walker Mixon and Rokia Sacko paired up to win the No. 2 doubles match 7-6, while Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann gained a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot, which helped the Runnin' Bulldogs claim the doubles match point.
Sacko also defeated her No. 1 singles opponent Soumeya Anane (6-0, 6-3), while Rieckmann won (6-2, 6-2) over Masey DeMoss at the No. 4 position.
Catherine White fell to her Spartan opponent in three sets (6-1, 1-6, 6-0) at No. 5 singles.
Gardner-Webb will be back in action Saturday afternoon at home when they hit the nets against Coastal Carolina at 1:00 p.m.
