BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team (3-5, 1-1) lost 6-1 at the hands of Big South Conference opponent Coastal Carolina (6-3, 1-0).
Rokia Sacko and Mary Walker Mixon paired up at No. 2 doubles to defeat Cari Berry and Natalie Wall 6-4, but the Chanticleers were able to win both at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take the match point.
At the No. 1 singles position Sacko fell to Libby Scott (3-6, 2-6).
Three singles matches went the distance of three sets, but the Runnin' Bulldogs found themselves on the losing end of two of those.
Sandra Bolstad was defeated by Romane Delay (6-2, 4-6, 7-10) at No. 3 singles, while Catherine White fell to her No. 5 singles opponent (3-6, 6-4, 10-1).
The lone winner for Gardner-Webb was Stina Magnusson at the No. 2 spot. Magnusson defeated Wall (4-6, 6-3, 10-8).
The Runnin' Bulldogs will hit the courts again Saturday afternoon at Campbell with a start time slated for 1 p.m.
