JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. --- Sarah Mitchell (Roswell, Ga.) paced a multitude of Runnin' Bulldogs with a pair of strong finishes in the shot put and weight throw, and Megan Melton (Riverside, Calif.) placed third in the pole vault as six personal records fell for Gardner-Webb at the ETSU Buccaneer Invitational this weekend.
Titus Hamilton (Blair, Neb.) led the way for GWU in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing 35th with a personal-best time of 8.95 seconds, as Ezekiel Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) set a new PR with a mark of 5:00.88 in the one-mile run.
Josh Parks (Forest City, N.C.) set a new personal-best in the 800-meter dash, finishing 21st with a time of 1:59.60, while Christopher Lile (Waynesville, N.C.) missed his PR in the mile by less than one second with a mark of 4:35.18. Claire Cates (Hillsborough, N.C.) and Jenna Ford (Wasilla, Alaska) placed 19th and 22nd, respectively, in the 5,000-meter run with times of 19:11.59 and 19:21.68. Ivy Harris (Bailey, N.C.) set a new PR in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 60.99 seconds.
Kayin Mujahid (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the way for Gardner-Webb in the high jump, finishing third with a mark of 1.65 meters, as Seaver Wait (Candler, N.C.) placed ninth in the men's competition with a jump of 1.92 meters. Melton came in third in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45 meters.
Mitchell posted her first top-10 performance of the weekend in the shot put, finishing sixth with a best of 13.21 meters before placing 12th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.45 meters. Natasha Akbarizadeh (Maple Ridge, British Columbia) performed well in the weight throw with a mark of 15.55 meters, as Diamond Reese (Atlanta, Ga.) placed 18th in the event with a toss of 14.89 meters.
Marcus Abraham (Charlotte, N.C.) turned in a pair of impressive showings in both the shot put and weight throw as well, placing third in the shot (15.94 meters) before posting a toss of 14.45 meters in the weight throw. Clay Hamilton (Blair, Neb.) established a new personal-best in the weight throw as well with a mark of 13.20 meters.
Jordan Smith (Chesterfield, Va.) finished seventh in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw, posting marks of 15.57 and 17.41 meters, respectively. Gabby Cortese (Royston, Ga.) rounded out the weekend with a 10th-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line in 10:52.18, as Rachel White (King, N.C.) set a new PR in the event with a time of 12:00.94.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Thursday, February 11 in the first day of the Liberty Quad in Lynchburg, Va.
