
Jones and Kow Earn Top-10 Finishes as Gardner-Webb Places Seventh at the Davidson Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C.- Red-shirt juniors Chris Jones and Elki Kow each finished in the top-10 this week at the Davidson College Invitational hosted at the 7,208 yard, par-72, River Run Country Club in Davidson, N.C.
As a team Gardner-Webb shot rounds of 319, 309, and 319 to finish in seventh-place overall with a total of 947, +31, just one shot behind the team score of the host Wildcats.
Jones ended up in second place overall just seven shots behind the medalist at the Invitational from rounds of 75, 73, and a final round 75 giving him a 54-hole score of 223, +7 for the two-day event.
Kow played in the Invitational as an individual for Gardner-Webb as he bookended two rounds of 77 with a second round 75 enabling him to finish in a tie for ninth-place from a total score of 229, +13.
Behind Kow was junior Vincent Blanchette who finished in a tie for 16th-place overall as the Quebec native carded rounds of 79, 76, and 77 for a 232 overall score of +16.
Freshman Charles Dallery earned a tie for 32nd-place this week as he shot 82, 78 on Monday followed by a final round of 80 this afternoon at the event. His total combined score was 240, +24.
In 39th and 40th-place respectively at the Invitational for the Runnin' Bulldogs was senior Clement Kurniawan and sophomore Jonathan Henry. Kurniawan shot rounds of 83, 84, and 88 to finish at 255, +39, while Henry shot an opening and closing round of 87 paired with a second round 82 finishing at 256, +40.
GWU Junior Jamie Hough participated in his first collegiate event as an individual at this week's Invitational. The Ontario native shot rounds of 87, 91, and 85 finishing in 41st-place with a two-day total of 263, +47.
UNC Charlotte took home the top team and individual honors at the Invitational where as a team they combined rounds of 302, 301, and 299 to finish at 902, +32, while Thomas Rowland finished at even-par for the tournament for the 49ers earning the medalist honors carding rounds of 72, 74, and 70.
The Gardner-Webb men's golf team will return to action this coming Monday, March 7 as they travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C. where they will take place in the Bash At the Beach event hosted at the Surf Golf and Beach Club.
