LYNCHBURG, V.A. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team (4-9, 1-3) was defeated by Big South Conference opponent Liberty (7-8, 3-0) 7-0 at the Cook Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
Rokia Sacko battled at No. 1 singles with Maria Khval before falling (6-1, 6-3).
Catherine White was handed a (6-3, 6-1) loss in the No. 5 slot after keeping things tight in the first set.
Sandra Bolstad and Sarah Rieckmann were both beat in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4 singles respectively. Evangeline Crist defeated Bolstad (6-0, 6-1), while Rickmann was bested by Belen Rivera (6-1, 6-1).
At No. 6 singles Laura Fermosal went toe-to-toe with Valerie Thong in the first set, but eventually fell (7-6, 6-0).
The Flames also swept all three double's matches to take the match point.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they travel to Longwood with a start time set for 1 p.m.
