Men's Tennis Picks Up Non-Conference Win At Limestone Tuesday Afternoon

GAFFNEY, S.C. – For the third straight outing the Gardner-Webb men's tennis team (6-8) came out on top, defeating Limestone 4-3 (4-6) Tuesday afternoon at the Emmie Evans Rector Tennis Center.
 
All three double's teams were victorious, giving the Runnin' Bulldogs an early lead in the match.

Maximilian Scholl and Nikita Zverkov teamed up to defeat Stefano Soares and Benji Lascari Diaz 6-1 in the No. 1 spot. The duos of Johan Fors and Adam Schmidt as well as Jonathan Walker and Paul Hogan both won their respective matches in convincing fashion.

Scholl once again dominated at the No. 1 singles position, defeating Soares (6-4, 6-0) to earn his fifth consecutive win.

Yaroslav Prostakov also extended his win streak to seven by handing Guillermo Ortega a (6-3, 6-4) loss.

Gardner-Webb came picked up a big win at the No. 6 slot, as Hogan was able to handle Enrique Moreno in straight sets (6-1, 6-1).

In a strong losing effort, Zverkov succumbed to Gustavo D'Ascenzi in three sets (6-7, 7-5, 13-11).

Both Walker and Fors put forth strong efforts in their singles matches, but both players fell in straight sets to their opponents at No. 4 and No. 5 singles respectively.

Gardner-Webb will be back in action tomorrow, as they look to even their Big South Conference record when they travel to UNC Asheville with a start time slated for 2:30 p.m.
