GEORGETOWN, S.C.- Senior Mary Katherine Donovan shot a 77 this morning to pace the Runnin' Bulldogs who are currently in fifth-place overall on the team leaderboard at the at the 2016 Big South Women's Golf Championship hosted at the DeBordieu Club in Georgetown, S.C.

The Runnin' Bulldogs as a team shot 313, +25, in their first round of play and are just three strokes off the pace of fourth-place where Winthrop University sits after an opening day 310.

Donovan's 77, +5, currently has her in a tie for 14th-place overall, six shots off the pace of first where Annelie Sjoholm of Campbell University and Lena Schaeffner of Coastal Carolina currently are place at 71, -1 under-par.

Just behind Donovan are junior Taylor Dodson and freshman Morgan Laird who each carded scores of 78, +6, at day one of the Championship earning them a tie for 18th on the individual leaderboard.

The next member of Gardner-Webb's team on the leaderboard is senior Julia Henderson placing in a tie for 26th with a score of 80, +8, over her first 18 holes of play, while junior Sarah Bertram fired an 84, +12, round finishing in a tie for 30th-place at the Championship.

The Gardner-Webb women's golf team will look to build on today's results in the second round of play at the 2016 Big South Women's Golf Championships where they are set to tee-off at 8:30 tomorrow morning.
