19 Personal Records Fall For Gardner-Webb On Saturday at Charlotte 49er Invitational

CHARLOTTE — Jordan Smith (Chesterfield, Va.) and Ashleigh Cleveland (Raleigh, N.C.) each set a pair of personal records to lead the way for Gardner-Webb on the final day of the Charlotte 49er Invitational Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.

Lauren Mahoney (Rosman, N.C.) opened the day with a PR in the 400-meter run, crossing the line in 1:18.57, as Jenna Ford (Wasilla, Alaska), Sydney Davis (Granite Falls, N.C.) and Rachel White (King, N.C.) each set new personal-bests in the 3,000-meter run with marks of 11:10.54, 11:31.90 and 11:56.06, respectively. Cleveland established a pair of PRs, placing 14th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.48 seconds before finishing tied for sixth in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters.

Ivy Harris (Bailey, N.C.) placed third in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best of 1:04.55, as Sarah Mitchell (Roswell, Ga.) posted a PR of 13.84 meters to finish fourth in the shot put while placing third in the discus throw with a mark of 41.25 meters.

Bobby Clark set a new PR in the 200-meter dash with a mark of 24.51 seconds, while Caleb Silvey (Greenville, S.C.) posted a personal-best of 50.37 seconds in the 400-meter dash. In the long jump, Jalin Lawson (Fort Gaines, Ga.) placed fifth with a PR of 6.99 meters, as Quentin Jones (Moore, S.C.) finished eighth with a mark of 6.82 meters.

Paul Schumacher (West Palm Beach, Fla.) established a new personal-record of 12.47 meters in the triple jump. Keaton Poole (Spindale, N.C.) and Ezekiel Martin (Goldsboro, N.C.) set new PRs in the 800-meter run with marks of 2:00.96 and 2:11.71, respectively.

Smith posted a pair of PRs on the day, finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 16.40 meters while placing third in the discus throw with a toss of 48.90 meters - less than a meter shy of the school record. Marcus Abraham (Charlotte, N.C.) and Clay Hamilton (Blair, Neb.) each added a personal-best of their own in the discus with marks of 46.27 and 40.55 meters, respectively.

Gardner-Webb is back in action next weekend, April 22 and 23 at the Duke Invitational in Durham, North Carolina.
