Vincent Blanchette Earns Two Big South Postseason Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Gardner-Webb junior Vincent Blanchette was named to the Big South Men's Golf All-Conference and All-Academic Team as announced by the league office at the conclusion of yesterday's final round of the Big South Men's Golf Championship.
Blanchette garnered the All-Conference nod as he sported the best regular season scoring average for the Runnin' Bulldogs with an average score of 73.00 per round. The junior also led the Runnin' Bulldogs as he participated in the most rounds of play for GWU this season playing in all 31 rounds over Gardner-Webb's 11 tournament spring and fall schedule.
Blanchette earned three top-10's this season and was the top finisher for the Gardner-Webb men's golf team in six events on the year, including his first ever collegiate victory at the 2016 Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational where he shot his best round of the year, 65 -7 under-par, in his second round of play and set a new Invitational 54-hole scoring record, while aiding GWU to the team win at the Invitational as well.
In the classroom the Quebec, Canada native has compiled a 3.45 cumulative GPA as he pursues his study of Economics. Balancing the classroom and the course is quite the task for any student-athlete and Blanchette has proved to excel at both while on campus at Gardner-Webb.
