@GWULacrosse Earns No. 7 Seed, Will Face No. 2 High Point in 2016 Big South Championship

CHARLOTTE — Gardner-Webb has been awarded the No. seven seed and will travel to second-seeded High Point University in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 Big South Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship next Saturday, April 30 at 3:00 pm in High Point, N.C., announced league officials Sunday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs set a pair of program records during the regular season, posting four overall wins and a pair of Big South victories in their second year of existence this spring to enter the postseason with a 4-12 overall record and a 2-6 mark in league play. Gardner-Webb will square off with second-seeded High Point, who fell to regular season champion Winthrop on Sunday by a score of 14-13.
Winthrop (17-2, 8-0 Big South) ran the table for its second consecutive regular season crown to earn the top overall seed, and will serve as host of the semifinals and finals on May 5 and 7 at Eagle Field. The Eagles will host No. 8 seed Presbyterian College (3-14, 1-7 Big South) in the quarterfinal round on Saturday, April 30 at 7:00 pm.
High Point (11-5, 7-1 Big South) is the No. 2 seed and will host the Runnin' Bulldogs on Saturday at 3:00 pm; Third-seeded Campbell (9-8, 5-3 Big South) will square off against sixth-seeded Longwood (8-9, 4-4 Big South) on Saturday at 12 pm. Coastal Carolina (9-6, 5-3 Big South) is the fourth seed and will host fifth-seeded Liberty (5-12, 4-4 Big South) on Saturday at 1 pm.
The quarterfinals and semifinals will be broadcast live on the Big South Network, while next Saturday's Championship contest will be carried live on ESPN3 at 12:00pm. The Big South champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Women's Lacrosse Championship.
