
Women's Tennis Clinches Victory In Season Finale

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team (7-13) ended the regular season with a 5-2 win over North Carolina Central (3-12) Saturday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Courts.
The Runnin' Bulldogs also celebrated senior day prior to the match. Rokia Sacko was honored as the lone senior.
Sacko lost her No. 1 singles match (6-4, 6-2), but helped her team earn the doubles point, by teaming up with Mary Walker Mixon to get a win at No. 2 doubles. They defeated Mia Ramic and Jasmine Gabriel 6-4, while the duo of Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann beat Tamara Jeremic and Lynsey Cover 6-2.
White also won her singles match, defeating Cover in straight sets (6-0, 6-1) in the No. 5 slot. Also getting victories for Gardner-Webb were Stina Magnusson, Sandra Bolstad and Laura Fermosel. Magnusson blanked Ramic (6-0, 6-0) at No. 2 singles, while Bolstad handed Gabriel a (6-4, 7-6) loss at No. 3. Fermosel's win came at No. 6 singles (6-1, 6-0) over Jeremic.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday when the Big South tournament begins at Liberty.
