CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Gardner-Webb senior Jill Blank has been named to the Big South Conference Softball All-Academic team, announced the conference office Tuesday afternoon.
This is the second time in her career that Blank has earned the academic award, as she also garnered the honor in 2014. A communications major, Blank posts an impressive 3.95 cumulative GPA.
Blank is in the midst of her best season in Boiling Springs, averaging career-highs in virtually every offensive category; runs, hits, doubles, triples, RBI, batting average, on-base and slugging percentage.
The senior outfielder leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 13 multi-hit games, including a perfect 4-for-4 performance, with two runs, a double and an RBI in GWU's 5-3 victory over North Carolina A&T.
Blank and the Runnin' Bulldogs begin their quest for a Big South Title Wednesday, when they face Winthrop at 9:00 a.m. in the first-round game. The winner of Wednesday's game advances to play top-seeded Longwood at 2:30 p.m.
