Men's Soccer Announces 2016 Campaign

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- Tony Setzer, who enters his 29th season at the helm of the Gardner-Webb men's soccer team, announced a challenging 19-game slate for the upcoming 2016 season.
The 2016 season will feature eight non-conference games, as well as three exhibition matches before a nine-game Big South schedule gets underway Sept. 24 against Campbell. Gardner-Webb will play just three home non-conference games, including the first two games of the season, while six of the final seven matchups will be played away from Boiling Springs.
The non-conference slate features three exhibition matches, two against Division II opponents in Lees-McRae and Brevard, and a matchup with UNC Wilmington. Gardner-Webb will have two matchups against A-Sun schools, Mercer and USC Upstate, three games against members of the Southern Conference, Wofford, Furman, and VMI, and a game against a member of the Atlantic 10, Atlantic Coast Conference, and Sun Belt in Davidson Clemson, and Georgia Southern.
Gardner-Webb will play three exhibition matches at UNC Wilmington (Aug. 15), and home matchups with Lees-Mcrae (Aug. 19), and Brevard (Aug. 21), before the 2016 campaign gets underway Aug. 26, when the Runnin' Bulldogs take on Davidson.
After facing the Wildcats, The Runnin' Bulldogs will face three straight opponents in Spartanburg, S.C. The Dogs face Wofford (Sept. 2), Mercer (Sept. 4) and USC Upstate (Sept. 10), before returning home for the final home non-conference game of the season against Furman (Sept. 13).
The Runnin' Bulldogs finish off the non-conference slate at VMI (Sept. 17) and at Clemson (Sept. 20) prior to returning home Sept. 24, when it faces Campbell to begin conference play.
Gardner-Webb stays at home for its next game, a matchup against Radford (Oct. 1), then it will hit the road once again for three-straight. GWU will face UNC Asheville (Oct. 5) and Longwood (Oct. 8) and will finish the road swing in its final non-conference match of the season, Oct. 12 at Georgia Southern.
Liberty pays a visit to Boiling Springs, Oct. 21, before GWU will face Winthrop (Oct. 26) and High Point (Oct. 29) in the final two road matches of the season.
The 2016 season regular-season campaign wraps up Nov. 2 against the Blue Hose of Presbyterian College.
