HAYESVILLE, N.C. – Veteran
Julia Henderson led the way for the Gardner-Webb women's golf squad Tuesday, as GWU wrapped up play at the 2017 Bill Berg Invitational.
The final round got off to a late start due to frost on the course at The Ridges Country Club (Par 72, 6,057 yards) on Tuesday.
Henderson tied her low round of the tournament, carding a 78, to finish in a tie for 28th individually. Gardner-Webb finished 15th as a team, just two strokes back of a tie for 12th between Appalachian State and Longwood. Richmond won the event by 14 strokes and host Western Carolina finished 11th.
Allison Chandler was close behind Henderson, also carding a 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 35th (80-79-78-237). Chandler improved her score in each round by one stroke.
Morgan Laird (78-89-80-247) tied for 62nd overall, Kristin Wong (82-87-81-250) finished in 65th and
Lindsay Koppel (90-86-82-258) tied for 72nd invidiually.
Gardner-Webb led the tournament in Par 3 scoring (3.10 / +2), with Chandler (-2) and Koppel (E) pacing that effort.
Up next for the Runnin' Bulldogs is a busy week, beginning with the 2017 Winthrop Fall Invitational from October 21-22. GWU will then head to Spartanburg, S.C., for the 2017 Terrier Intercollegiate on October 23-24.
