Women's Golf Concludes Fall Schedule With Eighth-Place Finish In Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Gardner-Webb fired a 36-hole score of 629 to finish in eighth place at the 2017 Wofford Intercollegiate, wrapping up Tuesday.

The tournament was played on the 6,012-yard (Par 72) Country Club of Spartanburg Course, with 11 teams in attendance.

GWU finished five strokes behind Appalachian State for seventh and finished 33 strokes in front of Western Carolina. High Point won the team title.

Allison Chandler had another solid tournament, finishing in a tie for 17th. She started off with a Monday score of 1-under par (71), despite playing in horrendous conditions with wind and rain. She closed with two-day score of 154 and another top-20 finish.

Morgan Laird (74-85-159) and Kristen Wong (84-75-159) finished in a tie for 29th and Julia Henderson (82-78-160) finished in a tie for 32nd. Wong led the event with 15 pars.

Lindsay Koppel (81-85-166) finished the tournament in a tie for 41st.

The tournament wraps up Gardner-Webb's fall schedule. The Runnin' Bulldogs will get back on the links in 2018, traveling to Charleston, S.C., on February 26-27 for the Oyster Shuck Match Play event.
