Runnin’ Bulldogs Fall to Big South Leader High Point in Straight Sets Saturday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to High Point in Big South Conference action on Saturday afternoon.  The Panthers took the sets by scores of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-12.
 
With the loss, Gardner-Webb falls to 7-12 on the season and 1-5 in Big South play, while High Point improves to 13-6 overall and 6-0 in league action.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs hit -.095 percentage for the match with 19 kills, while the Panthers attacked at a .280 percentage with a total of 30 kills.
 
Kaelyn Dyson led GWU on the attack, racking up six kills on 21 attempts, hitting at a team-high .143 clip.  Dyson also had two blocks on the afternoon.
 
Maria Emmick led the team with a total of three blocks, while Tyra Long and Keira Moore also had two blocks throughout the match.
 
Emma Milstead collected 12 digs to lead the team and Amanda Sahm tallied a team-high nine assists on the afternoon.
 
High Point was led offensively by Haley Barnes, who had a match-high nine kills on 19 swings.  Molly Livingston had seven kills to go along with a match-high five blocks.
 
Abby Bottomley led the Panthers with a match-high 13 digs while Jenna Smith had a match-high 14 assists.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, October 10, hosting Presbyterian at 7:00 pm in Paul Porter Arena.  The game will be broadcast live on the Big South Network (www.bigsouthsports.com) and will be the team's annual "Dig Pink" game in which the tam will look to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
