Maximilian Scholl Receives National Ranking from Intercollegiate Tennis Association

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Gardner-Webb men's tennis player, Maximilian Scholl recently received recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranking him 105th in Division I Singles Rankings.

Scholl is accompanied on the list by fellow Big South competitors, No. 43 Henry Patten of UNC Asheville and Amadeo Blasco Hervas of Longwood University who is tied for the 122 ranking. 
 
Scholl, now a junior, has been a significant member of the program since arriving on campus three years ago. His freshman season the Stuttgart, Germany native was tabbed the Big South Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore, Scholl gathered First-Team Big South All-Conference honors in singles.
 
His list of accolades continues beyond the court as Scholl is also a two-time ITA Academic All-American and Big South All-Academic selection, sporting a 3.78 grade-point average.
 
This fall, he finished with an 11-4 record, claiming victory over fellow ranked players, No. 61 Scott Webster of Appalachian State and No. 79 Joshua Peck of UNC Chapel Hill. Completing a successful fall campaign, Scholl won the UNC Wilmington Fall Invite along with collecting a runner-up trophy at the Charlotte 49er's Fall Invitational. 
 
Over Scholl's two seasons in Boiling Springs, he has competed to a 31-10 record as the team's number one in singles.
 
Scholl and his fellow Runnin' Bulldog teammates are eager for the spring as they look to improve upon their second-place finish in the Big South from just a year ago.
 
The Runnin' Bulldogs return each member of last year's team while adding standout player, Millen Hurrion from Weymouth, England who has showed great promise this fall.
 
Gardner-Webb is set to open their season Saturday, January 13th at North Carolina State University.
