BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb volleyball team fell at Campbell, 3-0, in Big South Conference action on Friday evening. The Fighting Camels took the sets by scores of 25-18, 25-12, and 25-17.
With the loss, Gardner-Webb falls to 7-19 overall and 1-12 in Big South play. The Runnin' Bulldogs have now dropped ten consecutive decisions. Campbell improves to 18-9 on the season and 8-5 in league action.
GWU had 31 kills on the evening, attacking at a .046 clip. Campbell had a total of 38 kills with a .278 hitting percentage.
Nicole Celarek led the 'Dogs on the attack, collecting 10 kills on 31 attempts. She was followed by
Kaelyn Dyson, who had seven kills on 21 attempts throughout the match.
Hannah Driscoll led the team with three total blocks, and
Emma Milstead had a match-high 18 digs on the evening.
Amanda Sahm led the team in assists with 28.
Campbell was led offensively by Jessica Stocking, who tallied 15 kills on 33 swings. She also tied for a team-high four blocks with Alysha Mitchell. Danielle Bierman led the Camels with nine digs, and Summer Schuitema collected a match-high 32 assists.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return to the court tomorrow evening at Presbyterian at 6:00 pm. The match will be broadcast live on the Big South Network (www.bigsouthsports.com).
