
Several Personal Records Broken at Duke Invitational This Weekend

DURHAM, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb track and field team set twelve new personal bests over the weekend at the Duke Invitational, taking place at the Morris Williams Track and Field Stadium.
The Runnin' Bulldogs also posted six top-ten finishes throughout the two-day event.
Marcus Abraham placed fourth in the men's shot put with a toss of 16.72 meters. A.J. White placed seventh with a distance of 16.16 meters, matching his previous best.
White also finished seventh in the discus throw with a distance of 49.28 meters and 11th in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.83 meters.
Jalin Lawson earned a fifth-place finish in the triple jump, setting a new personal record at 14.90 meters. He also placed 36th in the 100-meter dash at 11.10 seconds.
In the women's hammer throw, Natasha Akbarizadeh placed sixth with a throw of 57.81 meters. Petra Jakelijic finished eighth with a throw of 55.94 meters, and Cailen Blaire placed seventeenth with a toss of 47.53 meters.
Christopher Lile placed fourteenth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 10:00.28. Ezekiel Martin timed in at 10:10.54, setting a new PR.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Paige Peterson finished in seventeenth, setting a new personal record with a time of 1:05.14. Hannah Sparacio finished in eighteenth with a time of 1:05.55, a new PR.
Peterson also set a new personal best in the high jump at 1.53 meters.
Merideth Byl earned a fifteenth-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 35.00 meters.
In the men's 200-meter dash, Carlos Williams finished in 36th place with a personal best time of 22.34 seconds. Darius Gary also set a new PR in the event, clocking in at 23.44 seconds to place in 63rd.
Gary also placed 52nd in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 53.83 seconds.
Jordan Davis finished in 32nd-place in the women's 400-meter dash with a time of 58.76 meters.
In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Alexis Fonville finished in fortieth with a time of 15.84 seconds.
Two new PRs were set in the women's 800-meter run, as Brittany Ollivierre set a new personal best time of 2:23.84 to finish 46th, and Hannah Jones finished in 55th-place with time of 2:26.56. Amy Turlington finished 53rd in the event, clocking in at 2:26.15.
Josh Parks finished in 43rd in the men's 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.56.
Kira Ramsey set a new PR in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 26.51 seconds. Amanda Hall finished in 66th-place in the event, timing in at 28.17 seconds.
In the men's 1,500-meter run, Logan Walker set a new personal record with a time of 4:31.14, finishing in 65th-place.
Michaela Williams finished in 68th in the women's 1,500 meter run with a time of 5:30.93.
Next up for the Runnin' Bulldogs is the Appalachian State Invitational, beginning Friday, April 28 in Boone, N.C.
