Gardner-Webb Has Three Honored With Big South Conference Lacrosse Postseason Awards

CHARLOTTE – Gardner-Webb's Abby Hanscom, Emma Rose and Amanda Steinmuller were each honored with Big South Conference women's lacrosse postseason awards on Thursday afternoon.

Hanscom (Eden Prairie, Minn.) earned second-team All-Big South Conference accolades at midfield, Steinmuller (Ellicott City, Md.) was named honorable mention All-Big South Conference on attack and Rose (Weston, Fla.) earned a spot on the Big South Conference All-Academic Team.

Hanscom played in 16 games in 2017 for the Runnin' Bulldogs, ranking third on the team with 16 goals and tied for second with 20 points. The versatile sophomore led Gardner-Webb with 35 ground balls and 41 draw controls – while also pacing the 'Dogs with 18 caused turnovers.

In two seasons, Hanscom had played in 33 games, scored 26 goals and collected 60 ground balls.

Steinmuller earned her second consecutive All-Big South honor, collecting second-team honors as a sophomore.

The junior standout ranked 10th in the conference in both goals and assists – and ranked No. 8 in the league in points per game. She tied the GWU single-season record with a career-high 38 goals in 2017 and broke the school's single-season mark with 21 assists.

Steinmuller also had 16 ground balls, 35 draw controls and four caused turnovers this season. She is the career record holder at Gardner-Webb with 84 goals, 28 assists and 112 points in 51 games.

Rose earned a spot on the Big South's All-Academic Team based on her 3.62 cumulative GPA in political science. She is on track to graduate this spring and plans on attending Wake Forest University for graduate school – where she will pursue a master's degree in sustainability with a concentration in sustainable development.

On the field, Rose posted career-high numbers, scoring 14 goals and scoring 16 points in 17 starts. She also had a career-high 30 ground balls and 33 draw controls.

For her career, Rose had 30 goals, 70 ground balls and 46 draw controls in 50 games played.
