CARY, N.C. – The Gardner-Webb men's and women's cross country teams set two new personal records as the teams competed in the Adidas XC Challenge at the WakeMed Soccer Park Cross Country Course in Cary, N.C. on Friday evening.
Mitchell Brown was the first GWU runner to complete the men's 6K course, clocking in at 20:09.2 in his first race for the Runnin' Bulldogs at that distance.
Keaton Poole followed with a time of 20:16.5.
Josh Parks set a new personal record with a time of 21:09.8, while
Ezekiel Martin also set a new PR, clocking in at 21:31.8.
Newcomers
Bogdan Podgaisky and
Sam Hermanns finished with times of 24:24.1 and 28:23.0 respectively.
On the women's side,
Gabby Cortese finished the 5K course with a time of 19:43.8. She was followed by
Sydney Davis, who clocked in at 21:34.7.
Hannah Jones clocked in with a time of 22:13.2, with
Michaela Williams (22:24.1) and
Rachel White (22:29.6) following close behind.
Logan McGuirt rounded out the field of GWU runners with a time of 22:34.6.
Gardner-Webb returns to action on Saturday, September 23 as the Runnin' Bulldogs take part in the Asheville Cross Country Invitational, hosted by UNC Asheville at the Asheville Christian Academy. The meet is set for a 9:00 am start time.
